Mahon, Menorca is accessible by both air and sea. Here’s how to get there:
Flights: The island is served by Menorca Airport (MAH) with direct connections from many European cities. If you are planning to travel before/after we recommend booking a round trip Denver/London, and then individual flights around Europe from there. We've found this option to be the cheapest and most convenient as there are direct flights from Denver and a LOT of European cities from London. It may involve an airport switch and/or overnight stay in London but allows the most flexibility and flight options.
Ferry: Ferries from Barcelona, Valencia, or Mallorca are an option if you would like to spend less time on a plane.
Please feel free to call us to discuss your travel options as we are quite familiar with the variety of arrival methods.
A car rental is not necessary, as the venue is a fifteen minute taxi from the airport and an eight minute taxi from downtown.
However, if you would like to explore more of the island on your own rather than take a taxi, you can rent a car from a variety of providers near the Mahon airport.
PLEASE NOTE that the island has very strict policies on drinking and driving. The legal limit is lower than it is in the United States and they do frequent breathalyzer traffic stops for ALL passersby. Austin and Sarah have already experienced one of these in person on our brief visits.
Breakfast: breakfast is included at the hotel.
Lunch/Dinner: on the wedding day, canapes and dinner will be provided. For the other days, there is a restaurant at the hotel, as well as a variety of wonderful food options in the town of Es Castel, which is an eight mintue taxi from the hotel.
No worries! A good portion of the folks on the island speak English and are patient in understanding facial expressions and hand gestures.
If you do speak Spanish and want to try something new, learn some Catalan - the regional language.
This time of year is technically shoulder season, however the weather is typically beautiful and mild this time of year with temperatures around the mid-to-high 70's.
The sea will also still be warm, so bring a swimsuit if you want to take a dip!
